- Develop a hair care routine called a regimen. You need a daily, weekly, and monthly regimen and be consistent with it.
- You cannot separate healthy hair from moisture. They are inseparable. Natural 4A – C hair thrives on moisture, so you always want to keep your hair moisturized by using a water-based moisturizer.
- Keep your scalp clean. A healthy scalp = healthy growth. Use apple cider vinegar mixed with some water to prevent scalp infections and create the right PH balance for hair growth. Avoid over applying products on your scalp as they will simply clog your pores and stagnate growth.
- Keep your ends trimmed and strong. The older the hair is the more it will break easily. Regular trims will ensure you have stronger and more resilient hair at your ends hence retaining more length and healthier hair. A good trim every 6 months should do the trick.
- Deep Condition your hair at least twice a month. This will keep it nourished and looking healthy and beautiful.
- Avoid tight wigs and hairstyles. Tight wigs and hairstyles can lead to Traction Alopecia (hair loss) which sometimes may be irreversible depending on the extent of the damage. Always ensure your hair stylist understands your hair and it’s need.
- Protect your hair. Wearing a protective style will keep you from over manipulating your hair and causing breakage. Yes, you can sometimes wear it out and have fun with it but avoid over manipulation.
- LASTLY remember your hair is your CROWN! Embrace it and walk tall with confidence!!
